Chemistry Building

The Chem building is a great place for a beginner in urbex, and there really is so much that can be explored. Below are some of the basics.

The attic in the back "L" section of the chem building. This area contains the three red ladders that lead to hatches out on to the lower L shaped roof of the back half of the chem building.

This is the ladder described on the bold and the ruthless website. It can be accessed in the large attic of the front/main part of the chem building (not the back L segment of the building).

This is a different but similar ladder which I have named "Larry's Ladder"

Go to big Chemistry attic. Go to door 506B. It should be a short, wide door. Inside you will find this ladder. It leads down to what looks like a dark lifeless dungeon-ish area w/ no exit. If u go all the way to the bottom and flip on the light (and u probably should not turn on the light), you will see what's in the next picture:

I call it Larry's Den. This place is actually not a dungeon but a massive stash of tools. On the right there will be a metal door with a space u can peek through (missing door knob). This leads into Larry's office. I don't know who Larry is (I saw his name on his desktop computer), but he appears to be a UVa maintenance guy or something. His office has a fridge but there were only 2 expired mountain dews and some old jelly in there. This office you secretly come into from the back is probably located on the basement floor.

Unless you go here significantly after hours, you better be as silent as stone coming down that ladder or Larry will hear you. And try not to knock anything over in his messy Den cuz there's a lot of tool-filled boxes precariously placed ready to fall over with a crash..
